July 24 Friends VS. Best FriendsThe difference between Friends and Best Friends
Friends: Ask you for a sip of your water.
Best Friends: Take your water bottle out of your hands and drink half. Friends: Will yell at someone who mess with you. Best Friends: Will roundhouse kick them in the jaw. Friends: Won't call early and wake you up. Best Friends: Will call as early as they can, just to ask a simple question, then laugh when you say they woke you up. Friends: Knock on your front door.
Best Friends: Walk right in.
Friends: Borrow your stuff for a day or two.
Best Friends: Borrow your DS games so long, you forget you once owned them. Friends: Ask about your date when you get home. Best Friends: Expect to hear an entire play-by-play with too much detail. Friends: Know some details about you. Best Friends: Know the words to your favorite song, quotes from your favorite movie, and you're little sister's favorite sport. Friends: Talk to you on AIM for a little while. Best Friends: Talk to you on the phone 'till 1 AM. Friends: Will be at your wedding. Best Friends: Will not only be in your wedding, but will hold your hair back when you're puking up those tequila shots. Friends: Will be with you for a while. Best Friends: Are with you for life. July 20 Money TroublesBecause of stupid 'Child Labor Laws' I cannot get a job for TWO YEARS. That doesn't seem like a problem for most 12 year olds. But when I need 129.99 for a PS2, 19.99 for the game I want (Tekken 5), 19.99 for the other game (Death by Degrees), and 29.99 for a skim board, IT'S A PROBLEM. So I need about 200 bucks, not including tax. So how am I gonna earn that? Mowing lawns is lame. No one buys lemonade. There are no young children for me to babysit in my neighborhood. Any ideas? LET ME KNOW! July 19 Got Free Speech?I've seen 'Shut Up & Sing' roughly 19 times, and at the begginning I always wonder, is Rightwingsparkle happy or mad that they read her blog? I'd be estatic because ever since I could sing, I wanted to sing the Dixie Chicks. And I want to follow in Rightwingsparkle's footsteps and write what I think about the George Bush/Dixie Chicks thing. Ah yes. Remember the little comment Natalie Maines said in 2003? The one that sent the poor band from the top of the world to the bottom of the charts? I do. I was always a dedicated fan. When it happened (I think I was 7 when she said it) my mom said I couldn't listen to them in the house for a while. I was shocked. Why couldn't I listen to my favorite band? It made no sense to me. Who cares if she was ashamed that George Bush was from Texas? If Bush was from my state, I'd be ashamed. I'm ashamed he's from the U.S. to be honest. Actually, not so much ashamed as much as saddened. I mean, he IS in charge of the troops and could start World War 3 or start a nuclear war and , you know, has the IQ of toaster. That saddens me a little. But back to the Dixie Chicks, I think what happened was unfair. I think that Natalie should be able to say whatever she wants to without being protsested, banned or boycotted for it. It's not right and it's a total contradiction of what America stands for; FREEDOM. Freedom of speech, you know? But the media loves confrontation. So the day after Nat said what she did, the London media had to tell EVERYONE. The media loves doing that. As soon as someone well known says something, the media has to twist and make it something huge. A joke meant for a few laughs, escalated to death threats. I, for one, am always gonna stand by the Chicks. They were my first favorite band (after Spice Girls and Hanson, of course...I was 3, leave me alone) and I like them WAY more than I like Bush. I've always thought of Natalie as my hero. When I was little I wanted to sing like her and when I saw Shut Up & Sing, I saw she's a good rolemodel, too. She never backed down. She never gave up on what she believed in when things got kinda hard. I totally think that's awesome. I'm the same way. I'm stubborn and I can admit that ("Angela" , I know if you're reading this you are totally agreeing with that last sentence.) and I wouldn't back down either. Why should she change her beliefs because the Republicans don't like it? But on the Dixie Chicks music, I love it. I have only bought 3 songs from their new CD on iTunes. The one song, 'So Hard', my favorite part is: "Sometimes I don't have the energy/ to prove everbody wrong/ and I try my best to be strong/ but you know, it's so hard." I can relate. I totally can. When I was younger, I used to listen to their songs like 'You Were Mine' and I didn't know what they were talking about. But I'm older and I get what they were saying and how good those songs really are. When I heard "Goodbye Earl" (my favorite song in kindergarten) I didn't even know what a blouse was. But to go back and listen to all those songs now, I realize they are really sad, some of them. I don't know why people are still mad about the Dixie Chicks thing. Why does it matter what they said? Like in the moive, some fat hillbilly looking lady was holding her ugly little two year old and says to the camera "Screw 'em" then says to the son "Right? SAY IT"...dude. Hell hath no fury like a fat hillbilly repubilcan. I dunno, that's what I think. |
